Another Lockdown Eminent If Nigerians Continue To Disobey NCDC Directive
As many Nigerians continue to flout NCDC safety precautions, the federal government has hinted that a fresh lockdown is inevitable
- The government says if Nigerians continue to fail to respect and follow all the guidelines, the easing of the lockdown will be reviewed - The director-general of the NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, had earlier lamented that people are flouting guidelines for social distancing
The federal government on Thursday, May 7 again warned of a possible fresh lockdown of the country over the violation of the guidelines on the eased lockdown.
He said if Nigerians continue to go about thier business without following all the guidelines, the PTF might review and possibly change them.
: “While we’ve allowed the relaxation of the lockdown, we’re putting measures in place to curb COVID-19 spread. Our modelling shows that the positive effects of full compliance with the eased lockdown will be very similar to the effect of a full lockdown. “This is why we need everyone to fully comply with all the guidelines issued. Please respect and follow all the guidelines we have instituted. If we continue to see violations of these guidelines, we will be pushed to review and possibly change them.”

. Reacting earlier to the chaotic scenes in the country's commercial capital of Lagos and the seat of power - Abuja, the federal government threatened to lockdown parts of the country again should there be a spike in coronavirus cases.
