I did not ask for #9million Refund:Ex-Fiancee of Custom Boss's New Wife

Zubairu Malami, the ex-boyfriend of Zainab Yahaya, the new wife of the Nigeria Customs Services Comptroller-General, Hameed Ali, has debunked reports that he demanded a N9 million refund from the lady.

Reports were rife a few days ago after a letter purportedly written by a lawyer to Malami emerged online, seeking a reimbursement all the money spent on Zainab – including the cost of air tickets, house and shop rents, loan collected for her father and for opening a clothing business for her – during their estranged relationship.

But reacting to the claim in a statement, Malami said the purported letter was not authorised by him.

“I, Zubairu Dalhatu Malami, of No224 Durumin Zungura, Kano State, do hereby notify the general public that the purported leaked letter circulated on SaharaReporters and other news channels was not authorized by me to be published.

“Zainab Abdullahi Yahaya was my former fiancée who I intended to marry but that was not ordained by the Almighty Allah as she has married someone else. I, therefore, wish her a happy married life and Allah’s blessings,” the statement sent to Daily Nigerian read.

On her part, Zainab denied borrowing any money from Malami, telling the online newspaper that all the money he claimed to have spent on her were either unfounded or unsolicited.

She also denied borrowing any money from him for her father as claimed.

Zainab confirmed that she wanted to marry Malami but changed her mind after her parents found him unsuitable following a background check.
