Anya The Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu led administration in Abia State have expressed dissastifaction with the recruitment made by the Secondary Education Management Board since 2018 till date since over 90% of  it was made without government approved waiver. Investigation by AFNews revealed that the government had considered it necessary to set up a committee to investigate and review the series of recruitment done by SEMB from 2018 till date as a result of the inability of the government to pay those recruited and already in the service of the ministry of education.     President Muhammadu Buhari has made 141 appointments in 81 days, an investigation by Daily Trust has revealed. The investigation shows that the flurry of appointments is the highest since assumption of office by President Buhari on May 29, 2015. The President  Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been able to get the 9th Senate to confirm at least 207 appointees for him in the last one year of the existence of the current Senate. The 207 already confirmed include judges, ministers, ambassadors, commissioners and heads of agencies. Magu was appointed by the President on November 9, 2015 subject to confirmation by the Senate. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has advised the federal government to keep schools shut pending when the covid-19 pandemic was over. ASUU tweeted about this on Thursday. ASUU President, Abiodun Ogunyemi, advised “federal government not to reopen schools until the pandemic is over. The Covid-19 Presidential Task Force had equally maintained that it was not safe to reopen schools. The PTF had also urged schools to ensure safety measures against covid-19 were put in place before schools reopen. ASUU and FG are still at loggerheads over alleged failure of government to meet the terms of earlier agreements. This led the union to call an indefinite industrial strike action. There are confirmed reports that the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, who tested positive for COVID-19 has recuperated and is set to return to work soon. You will  recalls that Governor Ikpeazu tested positive for the coronavirus disease a few weeks ago. John Okiyi Kalu, Commissioner for Information in the State, had confirmed the Governor’s status in a statement made available to newsmen last Monday. The Commissioner disclosed that the governor had gone into isolation before his result was confirmed positive, and ordered that the deputy governor would act on his behalf pending the time he resumed duty. Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday made his decision to quit the All Progressives Congress official after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja. He said announcing his resignation at the State House was a mark of respect for Buhari and in keeping with the promise he made earlier that he (Obaseki) would speak on his next move after meeting with the President. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). An FCT High Court had on March 4 granted an application by six members of the APC in Edo State suspending Oshiomhole from office. A three member panel of justices led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem held that Oshiomhole’s appeal challenging his suspension was unmeritorious. This is coming on the same day Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State resigned his membership of the APC, after meeting with Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa.
