90% of SEMB Recruitment Was Made Without Approved Waiver---- Panel Of Enquiry

Anya The Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu led administration in Abia State have expressed dissastifaction with the recruitment made by the Secondary Education Management Board since 2018 till date since over 90% of  it was made without government approved waiver. Investigation by AFNews revealed that the government had considered it necessary to set up a committee to investigate and review the series of recruitment done by SEMB from 2018 till date as a result of the inability of the government to pay those recruited and already in the service of the ministry of education. The committee which was set by the Government headed by Dr. Mrs Kate Ndukauba was giving an assignment to review the employment made by SEMB and report back to the Government within few months . President Buhari Makes 141 Appointments In 81 Days

    President Muhammadu Buhari has made 141 appointments in 81 days, an investigation by Daily Trust has revealed. The investigation shows that the flurry of appointments is the highest since assumption of office by President Buhari on May 29, 2015. President Buhari Ignores EFCC:Sends Appointees to Senate

The President  Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been able to get the 9th Senate to confirm at least 207 appointees for him in the last one year of the existence of the current Senate. The 207 already confirmed include judges, ministers, ambassadors, commissioners and heads of agencies. Magu was appointed by the President on November 9, 2015 subject to confirmation by the Senate. But he has remained in acting capacity since then. He was rejected twice by the 8th Senate, under the leadership of Dr Bukola Saraki, based on a security report by the Department of State Services. He, however, remained in office. Saraki’s tenure as Senate President was characterised by a frosty relationship between the Presidency and the National Assembly. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has advised the federal government to keep schools shut pending when the covid-19 pandemic was over. ASUU tweeted about this on Thursday. ASUU President, Abiodun Ogunyemi, advised “federal government not to reopen schools until the pandemic is over. The Covid-19 Presidential Task Force had equally maintained that it was not safe to reopen schools. The PTF had also urged schools to ensure safety measures against covid-19 were put in place before schools reopen. There are confirmed reports that the Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, who tested positive for COVID-19 has recuperated and is set to return to work soon. Appeal Court Upheld Adam's Oshiomhole Suspension

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). An FCT High Court had on March 4 granted an application by six members of the APC in Edo State suspending Oshiomhole from office. A three member panel of justices led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem held that Oshiomhole’s appeal challenging his suspension was unmeritorious. This is coming on the same day Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State resigned his membership of the APC, after meeting with Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Villa. Obaseki had met with Gambari over his disqualification from participating in the primary of the APC. Obaseki was disqualified by the screening committee of the APC on Friday.
