President Tinubu Hosts President Faye In Aso Rock.

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with the new President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


President Faye, who was sworn-in on April 2, 2024, arrived the forecourt of the State House about 3pm and was ushered in by Pipers from the military band. The Senegalese President was immediately taken to the president’s office for a closed-doors session.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has advised the federal government to keep schools shut pending when the covid-19 pandemic was over. ASUU tweeted about this on Thursday. ASUU President, Abiodun Ogunyemi, advised “federal government not to reopen schools until the pandemic is over. The Covid-19 Presidential Task Force had equally maintained that it was not safe to reopen schools. The PTF had also urged schools to ensure safety measures against covid-19 were put in place before schools reopen. ASUU and FG are still at loggerheads over alleged failure of government to meet the terms of earlier agreements. This led the union to call an indefinite industrial strike action.   Governorship candidate on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), in the last general election in Delta State, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi FNIM, OON, has refuted the rumour, making the rounds that former head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), is dead. The former Minister of State for Education, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Orusi Kenneth, on Monday October 9th 2023, described the purported death as “handiwork of mischief makers”. Gbagi, disclosed that General Gowon, is alive, hale and hearty and presently in London. Quoting the much respected leader, Gbagi said: "General Gowon, is still much around with us, hale and hearty.
