ATTACK ON CHIEF CHINEDUM ORJI: EVERYONE SHOULD BE CALM

The Governor of Abia State Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has called for calm across the state . This is an attempt by the governor to close the ongoing crises rocking the state Executive Council between his loyalists and those loyal to the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly Rt Hon Chinedum Orji  .

Investigation by AFNews revealed that there is  currently a face-off in Abia State between the camp of the state Governor and that of the speaker which arised as a result of a statement credited to Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji on his recent visit  to The Chief Whip of The Senate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

The speaker was quoted to have asked Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to come back to the state and recover the position of the leader in the state as nobody is contesting that Position with him . But this statement did not go down well with those loyal to the Abia State Governor who described his statement as being " anti party and an attempt to undermine the leadership of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu" therefore he should honourably resign or be forced out.

The speaker who reacted through his media aids called those asking for his resignation led by Don Ubani as " political Jobblers who he considered himself too busy to exchange words with or be answerable to " this face-off has continued without any official statement from the Governor himself.

But The state Chief executive Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu today made his opinion public  through a press release made available to AFNews by his Chief of staff  Barr. A.C.B. Agbazuere, LLM, Ph.D (law)

In the press release , Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu said " I have been inundated, for some time now, with variegated comments from several groups and individuals on some issues in the state and I hereby urge everybody in the interest of the state to ceasefire forthwith."

" Abia State is a PDP State with a PDP Governor and a PDP majority House of Assembly and thus one family. All sides are to strictly comply."

Furthermore, " Let me also thank all Abians for their solidarity and prayers which God answered by healing our dear Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D."

Whether or not the face-off will cease as the Governor directed  is yet to be ascertain.
